05/12/2017

The Incentives for Ecosystem Services (IES) project presented the IES approach during a webinar on 5 December 2017 as part of FAO's Knowledge Sharing Platform on Resilience (KORE). The webinar aimed to explore how to better support the implementation of the EbA to adaptation in agriculture sectors. It introduced tools, guidelines and other methods that can support more informed planning and implementation of ecosystem-management of natural resources in the context of climate change adaptation in general, and, more specifically, in the context of EbA. IES was presented as a tool to enable the coordination of public and private investment to provide incentives to support smallholder famers implement ecosystem-based approaches (EbA) to adaptation.

Specifically, the webinar aimed to understand:

1. What are the information and capacity needs necessary for better informing adaptation planning processes and implementation of EbA in the agriculture sectors, including when and how to integrate scientific and traditional knowledge?

2. What tools, methods and guidelines exist that can support the implementation and building of an enabling environment for EbA for adaptation in the agriculture sectors?
