Global Landscapes Forum: Investing in integrated landscapes to achieve the SDGs

At the Global Landscapes Forum held in Paris, 5-6 December 2015, Dr Gustavo Garduno, Regional Economist at CONABIO, Mexico, presented the IES case study from Selva Lacandona, Chiapas during the session: Investing in integrated landscapes to achieve the SDGs.

The session was hosted by the Landscapes for People, Food and Nature Initiative (LPFN), EcoAgriculture Partners, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and UNCCD Global Mechanism. It focused on how investments are coordinated within integrated landscapes initiatives and how investors can better engage with those who have a stake in the landscape. 

The Selva Lacandona case study was presented as an example of how, through CONABIO, improved coordination of governament programmes, international organization initiatives and private sector investments can provide multiple incentives to support farmers improve productivity through integrated sustainable development and conservation of natural resources in the Chiapas region.
