sugar: 1 29
baking powder: 1/2 31
chocolate: 2 48
salt, table: 1/2 31
shortening: 1/3 29
vanilla: 1 31

Steps
1. Melt chocolate and shortening together over hot water; cool.
2. Sift flour with baking powder and salt twice.
3. Beat eggs until light. Add sugar, vanilla, then chocolate mixture, and blend.
4. Add flour and mix well. Pour batter into a greased 8- x 8- x 2-inch pan.
5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 mn. Do not overcook. Cool slightly. Cut into squares.
