First virtual KnoWat mission to Sri Lanka a success
The team of the project "Knowing water better: towards fairer and more sustainable access to natural resources - KnoWat", in coordination with national partners, organized a virtual backstopping mission to Sri Lanka from 5 to 12 October 2020. The mission assessed the progress of the project and planned future activities on water resources and governance assessment in Sri Lanka. Also, it was a welcome opportunity for virtual exchanges between the project team and the partners involved in the project.
The Director General, the Additional Director General and the National Focal Point of the Irrigation Department who attended the virtual meetings, expressed their satisfaction about the project progress. The meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee was marked by a fruitful exchange on the elements of water tenure in the Sri Lankan context. During a virtual field visit to Anuradhapura in the Malwathu Oya basin, the project pilot area, the mission met with local partners.
