The Sustainable Development Goal 14 is about the conservation and sustainable use of the ocean, seas and marine resources. The concept of sustainability is increasingly being linked to that of innovation, as a mean to build more resilient food systems and more efficient management of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in a sustainable manner.
KOFAP work on innovation
The Smart Aquaculture Biosecurity (SAB) project is part of KOFAP and aims to assist countries to effectively implement biosecurity governance, systems and practices through the use of technological innovations such as smart communication devices, cloud storage and big data, information technology and artificial intelligence would enhance production and improve efficiency. For example, aquaculture farms remotely located, can be monitored by using Internet of Things (IoT), thus enhancing control efficiency.
