Myanmar Project Area Identification Meeting| Fisheries Co-management Capacity Development for Blue Communities
A two-day virtual meeting will bring together all fisheries stakeholders in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to discuss how fisheries co-management systems may contribute to achieve economic, environmental, and social sustainability and enhance livelihoods of fishing communities.
Myanmar is the first selected country of the five-year FAO project “Fisheries Co-management Capacity Development for Blue Communities: Sustainable Fisheries and Diverse Livelihoods” within the framework of Korea/FAO Sustainable and Innovative Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme (KOFAP).
The meeting is intended to bring together all stakeholders representing various interests around fisheries co-management in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to review the objective, outputs, activities, and work plan of the project.
The expected outputs are:
- ensure a common understanding of the Project’s objective, outputs, and activities;
- present the Project’s work plan (if necessary, tailoring the work plan to the needs of likely target sites, maximizing synergies with other ongoing initiatives);
- share experience and lessons learned on marine fisheries, fisheries management, fisheries co-management and fishing community livelihoods;
- agree on the scope and purpose of site selection criteria;
- brainstorm on the way forward.
