Project Planning Workshop - Smart and Sustainable Aquaculture though Effective Biosecurity and Digital Technology, 26-27 April 2021

A two-day hybrid meeting will bring together all aquaculture stakeholders in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to discuss how smart and sustainable aquaculture may contribute to achieve economic, environmental, and social sustainability and enhance biosecurity governance, systems and practices through the use of smart and digital tools.

Vietnam is the first selected country of the five-year FAO project “Smart and Sustainable Aquaculture though Effective Biosecurity and Digital Technology” within the framework of Korea/FAO Sustainable and Innovative Fisheries and Aquaculture Programme (KOFAP).

The meeting is intended to bring together all stakeholders representing various interests around smart and sustainable aquaculture in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to review the objective, outputs, activities, and work plan of the project.

The expected outputs are:

· Ensure a common understanding of the Project’s objective, outputs, and activities  with relevant stakeholders in Viet Nam; 

· Introduce the project work plan (if necessary, maximizing synergies with other ongoing initiatives); 

· Share information and advance knowledge about risks in shrimp aquaculture sector in Vietnam, shrimp biosecurity, big data platform; and

· Identify site selection criteria and establish cooperation and coordination mechanism at all levels for successful project implementation.
