  • Enhance financial literacy by providing appropriate models and techniques for operating a business in the seafood sector.
  • Develop business planning skills by guiding participants through the process of writing a business plan, including market research and financial projections.
  • Introduce concepts of sustainable business practices and entrepreneurship.
  • Undertake assessments of participants’ understanding and capabilities regarding financial literacy and business planning, using both pre- and post-workshop surveys.

The Sustainable Fish Value Chains for Small Island Developing States (SVC4SIDS) project is working in Kiribati to assist in further developing and improving the country’s domestic tuna value chain in the Gilbert Islands and the lobster value chain in the Line Islands, specifically in Kiritimati. The project’s upgrading strategies for tuna and lobster were adopted by national stakeholders in 2023. SVC4SIDS continues to implement proactive engagement to ensure sustainable fisheries value chain development.
