In order to assist countries in the evaluation of the impact of climate change on forestry, it was decided to build a new forestry component in MOSAICC. This component will be based on a forest landscape simulation model called LANDIS-II. It uses direct cause-and-effect relationships to link forest dynamics with fundamental drivers such as climate variables(temperature, precipitation and CO2 concentration) and can produce robust predictions under novel conditions.
