This toolkit clarifies to project proponents the key considerations to take into account and fulfill the requirements of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) when developing funding proposals. It focuses on the essential elements to know before developing a GCF project proposal; illustrates the GCF project cycle, the GCF proposal template and key requirements. It also provides a checklist to guide project proponents on how to get started with the preparation of a proposal, its indicators and presents the options of financial support available from the GCF to support the proposal preparation. It helps in identifying how a chosen activity contributes to the national climate strategies or plans, such as National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), or equivalent.

This tool helps to facilitate an efficient process for consideration of ecosystems within the National Adaptation Planning (NAP) planning process, through two steps: 1) in assisting the NAP Planning Team to "screen" issues and opportunities that link ecosystems and adaptation planning in their local contexts and discuss options for activities that are consistent with the broad national strategies for ecosystems; and 2) in supporting a much more detailed assessment of the capacity and information requirements for consideration of ecosystems in the NAP planning process. The tool includes examples of tools and guidance for different elements of the NAP process supporting ecosystem-based adaptation.

Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) needs to ensure that investment in adaptation to climate change actually contributes to climate resilient sustainable development. This toolbox provides an overview of the GIZ support tools available for monitoring and evaluation of adaptation to climate change. It answers general questions about M&E of adaptation and then gives a brief description of the available M&E support tools, such as lists of indicators, in different languages. The tool also guides in national-level, multi-level and project level monitoring and evaluation.

The Global Livestock Environmental Assessment Model is a modelling framework that stimulates the bio-physical processes and activities along livestock supply chains under a life cycle assessment approach. It provides a detailed description of herd dynamics, feed rations and manure management systems, and can support the assessment of feed balances and impact of climate change on livestock production.

The submissions summarize current understanding of the challenges and solutions that the agriculture sectors face due to climatic variability and change from the point of view of developing countries, based on FAO's knowledge and experience. The submissions offer an analytical framework, lists technical options, case studies, and recommendations for communicating key issues related to the topic.

This publication provides an overview of vulnerability assessment concepts and methodologies and analyses how these methodologies have been applied in the context of fisheries and aquaculture, with case study examples of their application. It proposes a series of practical steps to assess vulnerability in the fisheries and aquaculture sector in order to support climate change specialists working with communities dependent on fisheries and aquaculture, as well as fisheries and aquaculture practitioners wishing to incorporate adaptation planning into the sector’s management and development. The publication includes case studies of vulnerability assessments in fisheries and aquaculture sector.

This report aims to facilitate the use of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fifth Assessment Report (IPCC AR5) by those concerned with the fisheries and aquaculture sector and their dependent communities. The report moves from the chemical and physical changes already observed and forecasted within the aquatic systems (inland and marine), to the implications of these changes for fisheries and aquaculture production systems. It concludes with a review of knowledge gaps from the fisheries and aquaculture perspective that would support further IPCC efforts.

Process country-level training materials developped by GIZ in collaboration with the NAP Global Support Programme, UNDP, UNITAR and UN-Environment. The materials can assist multiple sectors at the country-level and constitutes the basis for a country upon which to strategize, steer and manage its NAP process. There are several training modules, giving guidance to all four elements of the NAP process, ranging from preparatory and stocktaking work through to implementation and evaluation. These training modules are targeted to decision-makers and politicians responsible for the overall launch and steering of the NAP process as well as representatives from sectors affected by climate change such as infrastructure and agriculture.

This sourcebook provides step-by-step guidelines to conduct vulnerability assessments and to monitor changes in vulnerability over time. It is is structured along eight modules which provide detailed guidance on the operationalisation of a vulnerability assessment. The approach of the Sourcebook is applicable from national to local level and to a broad range of sectors. It is illustrated with examples and lessons learned from pilot applications in Bolivia, Pakistan, Burundi and Mozambique, with a wide range of reference to water scarcity and management.
