23/02/2021 23/02/2021
Place: Zoom Webinar

Climate change, forest invasive species and increasing fire incidence pose the environment at great risk, especially in those regions where living conditions are already challenging. Monitoring, early warning and early action systems, were proven to be among the most efficient tools to prevent and combat and such risks.

The Near East Network on Forest Health and Invasive Species (NENFHIS) and the Near East Network on Wildlands Forest Fire (NENFIRE) aim to foster the exchange of information and act as a link between experts, institutions, networks and other stakeholders concerned with forest fires and invasive species.

Objectives

  • Raise national, regional and global awareness on forest risks in the region (fire, invasive species, climate change impact) for the future and foster regional collaboration.
  • Facilitate Sharing of experience(s) on projects, programmes, good practices including information systems application and facilitate exchange of limited regional expertise.
  • Enhance preparedness through web applications and information system aimed at supporting risk management and monitoring.
