حول باكستان

Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan's economy, employing a significant portion of its rural population. However, the sector faces significant challenges due to water scarcity, inequity in water distribution, reliance on outdated irrigation methods, inefficient water management practices and inadequate access to reliable data for making informed decisions about water usage and crop management. Moreover, climate change exacerbates the problem by altering weather patterns and causing extreme events like floods and droughts, further straining water resources. These challenges are significantly impacting socio-economic development of Pakistan.

WaPOR provides remote-sensing data and tools that help assess and monitor water productivity in agriculture. By leveraging this technology, Pakistan can enhance water-use efficiency, optimize irrigation, and adopt sustainable agricultural practices to improve food security and livelihoods. The WaPOR project will assist the ongoing efforts and investment of Pakistan in Water Sector along with its development partners. The WaPOR initiative will present a valuable opportunity to tackle water and agriculture challenges by providing crucial data and insights to improve water productivity and agricultural practices.
