Renforcement des capacités liées aux accords multilatéraux sur l'environnement dans les pays d'Afrique, des Caraïbes et du Pacifique (AME ACP 3)

In the framework of the European Union funded project ‘Building capacity related to Multilateral Environmental Agreements in African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP MEAs 3)’, FAO and the CBD Secretariat are jointly organizing a series of regional information webinars to unpack the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) with a focus on the targets related to agricultural biodiversity.

The webinars will focus on the Kunming-Montreal GBF targets that are of direct relevance to the sustainable management of agricultural biodiversity. Most of these targets are closely connected to the implementation of other Multilateral Environmental Agreements, such as the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture and the Rotterdam Convention.

This webinar provides the opportunity to biodiversity focal points from agriculture and environment sectors from the Caribbean to discuss how these newly adopted global biodiversity targets could be translated into concrete and integrated national strategies and action plans for the conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of their utilization.

The expected outcomes of this webinar include:

  • An increased shared understanding of the Kunming-Montreal GBF and its relevance to the sustainable management of agricultural biodiversity.
  • Improved capacity of relevant agricultural focal points and stakeholders to participate in the NBSAP review process and implementation.
