Inception of the Farmer Field Schools training for Agro-meteorology in Champhone district

In Friday 24th of May the Provincial Office of Agricultural Land Management (PALAM) of Savannakhet in collaboration with the District Office of Agriculture and Forestry (DAFO) of Xe Champone have launched the first class lessons to introduce the Farmer Field Schools (FFS) on Agro-meteorology in the village of Kadarn. The trainers had been capacitated during the month of April by FFS experts from Indonesia and Nepal (http://www.fao.org/in-action/samis/resources/news/detail/en/c/1193301/).
The farmers have meet at the local school and have been presented with the FFS curricula. The FFS training curricula has been prepared by the Department Office of Agricultural Land Management (DALAM) in collaboration with FAO experts. In addition, the local community is trained in the use of the seasonal forecast produced by the system called Laos Climate Services for Agriculture (LaCSA) (http://www.fao.org/in-action/samis/resources/news/detail/en/c/1194669/).
The activity is held in collaboration and in the same villages covered by the FAO GEF project Climate Adaptation in Wetland Areas (CAWA)(www.fao.org/in-action/cawa/en)
