Real-time district bulletin production launched at the SAMIS Steering Committee

Dr. Saynakhone Inthavong, Vice Minister of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, lead the SAMIS Steering Committee together with Dr Chay Bouaphanousay, Director General of NAFRI,  and Mr Nasar Hayat, FAO Representative. The PSC discussed the sustainability of SAMIS,  the initial scheme for a new project, and the Standard Operating Procedures for the agro-meteorology sector.

Also, a new function of LaCSA was launched. The system now allows for the automatic generation of weekly bulletins per district. This means that farmers in each district in the country can access LaCSA and download the weekly forecast in pasalao for their exact intervention areas. The bulletin contains various information at the district level. First, it contains the weekly drought map. Second, it contains the weather forecast and the Disaster Risks assessment, which drought and heat stress and impact on crops and livestock. Finally, the last part of the bulletin contains farming advisories for the week.
