Joint SCALA & WBCSD webinar: Scaling business impact for agriculture NDCs and NAPs (Internal)

15/05/2022

The SCALA programme and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)’s Scaling Positive Agriculture project co-organized a knowledge-sharing webinar on “Scaling business impact for agriculture NDCs and NAPs”, held Thursday 19 May 2022. This webinar discussed how businesses, the public sector, and associations can work together to drive more low carbon resilient food systems.

The webinar was tailored to all interested participants from multinational and small-medium enterprises from the agricultural private sector companies with operations and supply chains in the SCALA region, key federations, associations, and networks relevant to food and agriculture, and government stakeholders and country representatives.

The objectives of this knowledge exchange were:

  • Attendees to become familiar with the SCALA programme, the scope of work and objectives and the climate resilience net zero guidance being developed.
  • Attendees understand there are existing opportunities to invest in low carbon resilience markets while aligning with NDCs and NAPs. Companies are inspired by the practical examples of public private partnerships.
  • Attendees express their interest in NDC/NAP priorities in SCALA countries and shape the focus of the climate resilience net zero guidance.
  • Governments and countries identify linkages between SCALA interventions and opportunities for collaboration from private sector attendees.

As part of the collaboration between the SCALA programme and WBCSD, a Climate Resilience Net Zero Guidance is being developed to support companies and countries to accelerate NDC/NAP-focused climate solutions. It also highlights the role of the public sector in enabling investments and de-risking the private sector.
