Self-evaluation and Holistic Assessment of climate Resilience of farmers and Pastoralists (SHARP)

Adapting irrigation to climate change (AICCA)

The AICCA project, financed by IFAD and implemented in Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Niger and the Gambia. The project was implemented between 2015 and 2018, with the goal of improving sustainability and adaptation of small-scale irrigation systems across key agro-ecological zones in West and Central Africa.

Small-scale irrigation and other forms of agricultural water management are paramount to respond to climate change and variability and build resilience. To better understand these links, SHARP was selected as the tool to assess the resilience of small-scale irrigation systems across 21 irrigation sites in the four countries. In close collaboration with local stakeholders and FAO technical experts on water management and irrigation, SHARP was tailored to each country context.
