Social Protection for Fisheries and Aquaculture (SocPro4Fish)

Inputs for the recovery of livelihoods and identification of gaps towards social protection in small-scale fisheries in Buenaventura

With the purpose of promoting dialogue, knowledge sharing and advocacy to identify the gaps that exist for social protection, as well as the strengths and weaknesses in the marketing of fishery products, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations -FAO, together with the Institute of Marine and Coastal Research of Colombia - INVEMAR, carried out the workshop 'Inputs for the recovery of livelihoods and identification of gaps towards social protection in small-scale fisheries in Buenaventura' aimed at fishers, fishery workers and local institutions in this sector.

The workshop was part of the strategies framed within the project "Social Protection for fishing and aquaculture SocPro4Fish in Colombia", with the aim of strengthening mechanisms for the recovery of livelihoods and resilience of small-scale fishermen and their families; such activities will be carried out over the coming months to promote access to social protection for actors involved in the first links of the value chain of small-scale fisheries and aquaculture.
