Interview in Paraguay

FAO was invited by Paraguay's TV channel, "5Días televisión", to discuss the FAO project "Social Protection for the Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector", also known as SocPro4Fish. This interview served as a platform to highlight the importance of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in ensuring food security and nutrition and enabling inclusive socio-economic development while also underlining their vulnerability in terms of social protection.

During the interview, FAO experts provided a brief overview of the project's objectives, focusing on Paraguay. They explained that the SocPro4Fish project seeks to support the government in expanding adequate social protection coverage to the fisheries sector by generating evidence that enables an in-depth understanding of the sector's conditions and challenges. In this framework, the FAO experts outlined some of the challenges faced by the sector and propose ways forward.
