Strategy meeting advances social protection efforts in Tunisia's fisheries sector

The Inter-institutional Technical Committee on Social Protection in the Fishing Sector in Tunisia held a meeting on Tuesday, 26 of March. The session brought together the FAO’s SocPro4Fish team and key Tunisian institutions, the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGPAq), the General Directorate for Investment Financing and Professional Organizations (DGFIOP), the Agricultural Extension and Training Agency (AVFA) and the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP). 

The meeting was a further step in the efforts of the committee, set up through the SocPro4Fishproject, to support the government in expanding and adapting its social protection systems to make them more accessible and better targeted at fishers. The aim of this initiative is to improve social protection measures, ensuring that the specific needs of the fisheries sector are met more effectively.
