Technical Network on Poverty Analysis (THINK-PA)

Integrating rural poverty analysis in programmes and projects

Virtual Event, 03/09/2019

The THINK-PA was launched in an open meeting with a large number of staff members attending. During the meeting, Marco V. Sánchez Cantillo (Deputy Director ESA) and Benjamin Davis (SPL3) emphasized the important role that the THINK-PA will have to support the activities related to work on poverty analysis across the house. They reminded that poverty analysis is a critical step to generate the evidence that will support the provision of successful solutions to reduce rural poverty sustainably, contributing to eradicating hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition. After this introduction, the coordinators of the THINK-PA, Ana Paula de la O Campos (SP3) and Leopoldo Tornarolli (ESA), presented the poverty analysis tools that are being developed in house and discussed the next activities of the network.

While ESA will be leading and coordinating the different activities in close collaboration with SP3, the THINK-PA will be an open Technical Network. Everybody from FAO is invited to participate in the different activities, either because they have ongoing work related to poverty analysis, or because they are just curious and want to learn more. Upcoming activities include the organization of a series of webinars and technical seminars on topics related to rural poverty, different capacity development activities, and bimonthly meetings to discuss ongoing activities related to rural poverty reduction.
