Understanding the linkages between the concept of living income and approaches to measuring poverty and well-being of smallholder farmers

Virtual Event, 06/06/2023

The Living Income concept advocates for the enhancement of smallholder incomes with the aim of enabling them to achieve a satisfactory standard of living. This concept has gained significant recognition within commercial value chains, multi-stakeholder platforms, advocacy campaigns, and European corporate sustainability due diligence draft legislation. In this webinar, the presenter will provide an explanation of the concept's meaning and practical applications, as well as its potential integration with established tools for assessing the well-being and poverty levels of smallholder producers in agrifood value chains. The presentation will delve into the similarities and distinctions between various poverty measures and the living income approach, including the Multidimensional Poverty Index, Demographic Health Survey Wealth Index, and Poverty Probability Index.
