TAP-AIS project: FAO-IICA guide for strengthening functional capacity for agricultural innovation in Latin America

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) just published the guide in Spanish “Guía para el fortalecimiento de las capacidades funcionales para la innovación en la agricultura”, with the support of the Red Latinoamericana de Servicios de Extensión Rural (RELASER) and the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP). The guide was developed in the context of the EU-funded TAP-AIS project and its purpose is to contribute to the strengthening of the functional capacities of individuals and organizations which support innovation in Latin America. This guide has used the Common Framework on Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems promoted by TAP in order to identify and strengthen the functional capacities of key organizations and individuals. According to the Common Framework, capacity strengthening enables actors to reflect and learn, collaborate, navigate complexity, and participate in political strategies and processes. In addition, it allows to focus on the future and not only on solving problems of the present.
