Inception workshop for project launch in Rwanda

FAO in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources of Rwanda organized the inception workshop for the project on 19 November 2020.

The main aim of the workshop included: (i) to launch and introduce the project to relevant stakeholders in the agricultural sector, (ii) to collect valuable background information that will guide the implementation, and (iii) to establish linkages that would support the project implementation in Rwanda.

Various actors involved in the food and nutrition sector in Rwanda participated in the workshop. The stakeholders were from government agencies and other institutions, with government representation from the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB). During the workshop, technical presentations by various participants were delivered on the project′s objectives and methodological approach, the government strategies related to food security and nutrition, IFAD-supported projects in Rwanda and potential entry points for collaboration with FAO, multiple links between agricultural water use and the production of nutritious food, and interactive discussions held.
