More effective and sustainable investments in water for poverty reduction

Final Project Workshop, 28-29 June 2018, FAO HQ, Rome, Italy

The Final Project Workshop aimed to present the achievements and recommendations made by the project “More effective and sustainable investments in water for poverty reduction”, funded by IFAD and implemented by FAO and IWMI under the CGIAR Research program on Water Land and Ecosystems (WLE). This project provided policy guidance, capacity development and technical support to countries to improve the sustainability of investments in Agricultural Water Management (AWM). The overall goal of the project was to contribute to improve food security and reduce rural poverty for smallholder farmers. The project that ended on 30th June 2018, was implemented in six African countries: Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

Objective of the workshop:

  • Present and share with key stakeholders the project key findings and outcomes.
  • Share the experience and lessons learnt during the implementation of the project.
  • Discuss concrete applications of the project findings and results in the countries involved.

Participants:

Project partners including the national focal points, national consultants (Madagascar, Mali, Niger, Ethiopia and Rwanda), IFAD, IWMI/WLE and FAO representatives.
