More effective and sustainable investments in water for poverty reduction

Capacity development

Providing technical assistance and mentoring support to smallholder farmers and service providers on agricultural water management is an essential outcome of this project. This promotes the adoption of appropriate technologies and establishes the necessary local capacity to put farmers in charge of water management.

Workshops are organized in the six countries involved in the project to train national stakeholders on mapping and assessing the potential and opportunities of agricultural water management investments and on designing and implementing business models. Training material and technical support on agricultural water management are provided to strengthen capacity in the countries.

This activity is based on the capacity development framework developed by FAO.
