17/07/2017

In collaboration with the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), FAO had supported the establishment of the Indian Network for Fisheries and Animal Antimicrobial Resistance (INFAAR) by bringing together a large number of ICAR laboratories. In a recent FAO-ICAR meeting (held at Mumbai on 14 July) of identified experts as well as Directors of several national institutes with senior officials of ICAR, the operational mechanism of INFAAR including standard operating procedures, data management, publication of results, strengthening quality system etc were finalized.

FAO shall continue to provide technical assistance for commencement and continuous operations of INFAAR especially in the area of capacity augmentation for which FAO has recently entered into an agreement with the Indian Council of Medical Research.

FAO in collaboration with USAID shall be continuously partnering with Indian institutes in speedy implementation of National Action Plan on AMR that India submitted to World Health Assembly in April 2017.
