Visit by the GEF 6 Green-Ag project, National Project Management Unit (NPMU) team to Mayurbhanj, Odisha, November 6-9, 2022

A visit was made by the NPMU team members to the project landscape in Mayurbhanj, Odisha. Four villages, namely, Batpalsa, Kasipal, Dangarsahi, and Badsole were visited.  The objective was to review the preparedness for the field activities to be initiated from the rabi season. The team included: Dr Konda Reddy Chavva, Officer-in-charge, FAO India and Mr. R. B Sinha, National Project Director of the Green-Ag project; Shri B. S. Kalo, Project Director, Watershed and District Project Nodal officer, and State Project Management Unit (SPMU); and members of the Green Landscape Implementation Unit (GLIU). During this visit, the team interacted with various farmers, members of Self-Help Groups, Farmer Producer Groups and Panchayat members.

The FAO team also met with the District Collector and Chairperson of the Technical Support Group at Mayurbhanj to apprise him about the field implementation of the project and seek his guidance and support for the same. The FAO team requested the District Collector to review project implementation on a regular basis. This would help to ensure timely and effective implementation. The District Collector has assured his full support to the project.
