National Inception Workshop of GEF 7 Food System, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) India Project

The National Inception Workshop for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) 7-cycle funded project titled, “Promotion of Sustainable Food Systems in India through Transforming Rice-Wheat Systems in Punjab, Haryana, Odisha and Chhattisgarh” under the ‘Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) Impact India’ program is scheduled to be organized on 5-6 March 2024, NASC Complex, PUSA, New Delhi.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India is the nodal Operational Focal Point in India and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW), Government of India is the Implementing Ministry for the project. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is the Implementing Agency. The four state governments of Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha are the Operational Partners (OP) for the implementation of the project in the respective states.

The two-day inception workshop for GEF 7 FOLUR India will be co-organized by MoA&FW and FAO to share the project objectives, components, institutional and operational mechanisms, and strategy to ensure effective implementation of the GEF 7 FOLUR India Project. The workshop will be attended by government officials, representatives from OP states, ICAR institutes, and FAO regional and country project staff.
