La pesca continental es “cualquier actividad realizada para extraer pescado y otros organismos acuáticos de aguas continentales”. La pesca de captura en aguas continentales constituye desde hace mucho tiempo una importante fuente de alimentos para la humanidad. Es una actividad fundamental para un subconjunto de países del mundo, a los que aporta una contribución considerable en materia de nutrición, seguridad alimentaria y micronutrientes.
