The Pacific Island region consists of fourteen independent countries and eight territories located in the western and central Pacific Ocean. This report is largely focussed on marine  fishery  resources,  however it also  covers  inalnd/freshwater fisheries resources in the country overviews. It therefore  represents a comprehensive  inventory  of  the  inland fisheries of the Pacific Islands.
