An aerial image of the forests of Gracias, Lempira, taken from a drone, shows the fragility of this vital ecosystem in the western region of Honduras. Drones can play a key role in forest conservation, such as monitoring forests, combating illegal logging and reforesting degraded areas.

Protected-area managers Tobias and Larissa use laser scanning technology to determine the volume of live and dead wood in a forest. This and other new technologies are aiding daily work in forest-protected areas and enabling exploration of the carbon storage potential of natural forests.

Miroslav Šlafhauser - Seeding trees with drones

Slovenia

Slovenia was hit by the largest fire in its history in 2022, with 2 900 hectares of forests burnt in the Karst region. In 2023, the Slovenia Forest Service started reforestation in hard-to-reach areas with drones that drop seed balls. The balls contain the seeds of indigenous tree species.

ساعدنا كي نظهر للعالم إسهام الابتكارات والتكنولوجيات والمعرفة في حماية الغابات ومدى زيادتها للمنافع التي توفرها الغابات من خلال مشاركتك في مسابقة التصوير الفوتوغرافي الخاصة باليوم الدولي للغابات لعام 2024.

فالغابات توفر لنا منافع جمّة وتمدنا بالحلول المختلفة بما في ذلك الحلول المرتبطة بالنظام الإيكولوجي والتنوع الأحيائي وتغير المناخ ومصادر العيش ناهيك عما توفره لنا مأوى وغذاء وألياف ووقود. لكن رغم ما ذُكر، لاتزال الغابات تتعرض للتهديدات الناجمة عن إزالة الغابات وتغير المناخ والتلوث، ناهيك عن حرائق الغابات والآفات.

واحتفاءً باليوم الدولي للغابات الذي يوافق 21 مارس/آذار تحت عنوان "الغابات والابتكار"، نتطلع إلى عرض أفضل الصور الفوتوغرافية الملتقطة التي توضح فيها شتى أنواع الابتكارات، ومنها:

التكنولوجيات الجديدة، كاستخدام الطائرات المسيرة "الدرون" وغيرها من الأدوات الرقمية التي تساعد على رصد عمليات الاحتطاب غير المشروعة؛
الاستخدامات الجديدة للخشب المستدام، ومنها البطاقات الائتمانية أو ناطحات السحاب الخشبية أو عبوات المشروبات المصنوعة من الخشب؛
نتائج السياسات أو المشاريع المبتكرة أو الطرائق الجديدة لتوظيف المعرفة التي تتحلى بها الشعوب الأصلية.

يربح الفائزون الخمسة الذين يتم الإعلان عن أسمائهم بتاريخ 21 مارس/آذار مجموعة من الهدايا التي تقدمها منظمة الأغذية والزراعة، ومنها قارورة مياه خاصة بالمنظمة، وحقيبة تحمل على الظهر، وكوب. تتم مشاركة الصور الفائرة عبر قنوات التواصل الاجتماعي للمنظمة.

آخر موعد لتقديم المشاركات هو 7 مارس/آذار 2024 الساعة 12:00 بتوقيت وسط أوروبا.

يجري تقييم الصور على أساس أصالتها ومدى ارتباطها بموضوع المسابقة وقيمتها الفنية وقدرتها على نقل الرسالة.
