To create awareness of the etymology and historic origins of the name "Erciyes" and of the risks climate change pose to the mountain, a social media poll organized by the University’s sustainability commission asks students, faculty and local residents about their knowledge of the name's meaning. The discourse will highlight key issues challenging the sustainability of biodiversity and proposing actions to conserve these resources to build a resilient landscape.

Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh, a mountaineering organization in Maharashtra State, India, is celerbating International Mountain Day 2020. They are encouraging their member organizations to go on hikes, post photos on social media, write stories about their mountains' biodiversity and conduct education online events.
