Forest Walk to Mt. Migsalurayan: Indigenous Women Leading Conservation
Salumayag Youth Collective for Forests is an indigenous youth and women-led initiative that empowers local and indigenous communities through regenerative practices and narratives.
Guided forest walk is one of the capstone programs of Salumayag Youth where youth from community deepen their connection with their ancestral forest through a guided walk to the forest areas within their ancestral domain.
This December 11, on International Mountain Day, a guided forest walk to Migsalurayan will be held with the theme, "Mgo kamalitanan tu pug ayad tu ugpaanan" (Women as Stewards of the Land, Our Home).
Dring this walk, the women leaders of Salumayag will share about the role and challenges women face while pursuing conservation work. An open dialogue about how women in conservation can better be supported will follow.
Finally, there will be a reflection session to internalize gratitude for people and land.
