Having visited the agriculture potentials of the Alborz province, The FAO Representative to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Serge Nakouzi, and his team met with the officials from the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of Alborz Province as well as the experts from private sector on 3 September 2014, to discuss the potential areas of collaboration in this province.

In this meeting hosted by the Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of Alborz Province in Karaj, Mr. Masoud Karimi, Head of the Provincial Organization welcomed Mr. Nakouzi and indicated his readiness and willingness for the province to become a pilot area for FAO’s small size projects on safe crop production, processing and market access as part of a  sustainable comprehensive program in the region.

Mr. Nakouzi also praised the great potential that resides within Alborz province for creating attractive agro-eco-tourism sites. These sites, whilst creating job opportunities in the region, will contribute to preserving and sustainable management of natural resources of the Province by bringing on board and involving a wide range of stakeholders from public and private sectors to CBOs, NGOs and local communities.
