Celebrating Food Heroes and FAO75

On World Food Day and in celebration of FAO's 75th Anniversary, virtual celebrations were in full swing in Jamaica, the Bahamas and Belize. 

A week of virtual activities swarmed across Jamaica, the Bahamas and Belize, with virtual national ceremonies, videos highlighting local food heroes, webinars and a cooking show. Under the theme: Grow. Nourish. Sustain. Together. Our Actions are Our Future, the countries held weeklong celebrations and ended on a high with a regional Webinar on Harnessing Public-Private Partnerships to drive resilient agriculture and agribusiness in the Caribbean post-COVID-19: Experiences, successes and lessons learnt from the Jamaican ginger sector.

In Jamaica, a national ceremony

Event: National Virtual Ceremony – FAO & the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF)

  • FAO Representative for Jamaica, the Bahamas and Belize will deliver remarks and Hon. Floyd Green, Minister of Agriculture & Fisheries will deliver the Key Note Address.
