Water security is a fundamental brick in building resilience for vulnerable people. It supplies health and sanitation food and nutrition, which is challenging for everyday life for 2.4 billion people globally. Solutions in action, implementation and investments that address multiple positive outcomes are needed for resilience to future shock, as COVID or climate can bring. This session will bring examples on action and implementation that can bring systemic change by addressing multiple water, food and health objectives for the most vulnerable.

This session highlights the need for innovative and integrated drought management approaches in the context of climate change. The discussion is informed by the ongoing joint activities of the convening organizations and members of the "Drought Preparedness Working Group" in the framework of the Global Framework for Water Scarcity in Agriculture under a changing climate (WASAG).

Currently, more than 2 billion people are affected by moderate or severe hunger and malnutrition, and 4.2 billion still lack sanitation facilities. Trends have decelerated due to COVID and economic stagnation. This session will provide voices from the field, to share the perspective of the most vulnerable people, who are facing these challenges every day. What is being done to build back better? Is water improvement strengthening peoples resilience to short and long term shocks? The session will share interviews with beneficiaries form local action...

This session invites global leadership for an update on the opportunity of water management and investments to achieve multiple development ambitions on SDG 2 (Zero hunger), SDG3 (Good health and wellbeing), and SDG6 (Clean water and sanitation). The progress will be critical in an era of post COVID, to build back better, whilst addressing long-term climate change. The session features three keynotes and opens for a Q&A.
