On 2 December 2021, FAO’s Development Law Service (LEGN), FAO Chile and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), as part of the UN system in Chile, held a webinar on the Right to Adequate Food in the new Chilean Constitution.
The event had three international panelists: Rodrigo Uprimny, Member of the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; Barbara Burlingame, Representative of the High-level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition of the Committee on World Food Security; and Michael Fakhri, Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food. Two members of the Constitutional Convention,Matías Orellana and Patricia Labra, commented the presentations.
The Constitutional Convention has the challenge to write a new Constitution to replace the one in force that dates back to the dictatorship.
