The diploma programme aims to strengthen the capacities of agricultural communities in Chile and Latin America. It attracted participants from Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru. The programme addresses the main challenges related to the availability, accessibility, and quality of food in the country and the region, from a human rights perspective that considers diversity, equity, and inclusion of all participants and contributors.

FAO was invited to present three modules in this diploma program, one of which was a lecture delivered by Manuela Cuvi Rodríguez, FAO’s Outposted Legal Officer, who gave a lecture on the human right to adequate food. Thepresentation focused on the recognition of this right at both the international level, through binding and non-binding instruments, and the national level, in constitutions and framework laws. She also highlighted examples of related jurisprudence that emphasize the importance of having legal provisions and mechanisms in place to ensure protection and enforceability of the right to food.
