DescriptionConcerned about the countrys surging groundnut shipments to China, decided to limit the countrys groundnut exports, so as to guarantee adequate supplies for domestic processors.
NotesSENEGAL export policy: Concerned about a surge in the countrys groundnut shipments to China, in January, the Government decided to limit Senegals groundnut exports to 200 000 tonnes per year, in a bid to guarantee adequate supplies for domestic processors. Reportedly, local groundnut prices surged to FCFA 325 000 per tonne (USD 551), which compares to an official maximum price of FCFA 210 000 (USD 356). In 2018/19, China sourced about 250 000 tonnes of groundnuts (or about two thirds of its imports) from Senegal.
