DescriptionA contingency import plan approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, under which 300 000 tonnes of rice would be purchased on a Government-to-Government basis if needed to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. Volumes purchased under the plan would be levied the 35 percent import applicable for rice originated in ASEAN members, even if they were supplied by non-ASEAN members, such as India and Pakistan.
