NotesBRAZIL – GMO policies: In June, Brazil’s National Biosafety Commission (CTNBio) released a regulation that aligns the country’s rules on GM crops with international standards. Inter alia, under the new rules, vessels can transport different GM crops as long as each variety enjoys CTNBio approval for commercial release within the country. Traders expect the new rule to facilitate grain imports from countries outside the Mercosur trade bloc.
