DescriptionStarting on 24 August, allowed imports of GM soybean meal in response to sharp increases in domestic meal prices, triggered by a surge in exports of locally produced GM-free soybean meal. Initially, India allowed the importation, until end October 2021, of 1.2 million tonnes of soymeal through two ports. Eventually, to facilitate import operations, three additional ports were opened and the import deadline was extended by 3 months.
