DescriptionReduced maximum retail prices (MRPs) on selected qualities of rice, with immediate effect. In the case of steamed and raw Samba (white/red, excepting Suduru Samba), these were lowered by 4.1 percent to LKR 94 (USD 0.5) per kg. For steamed Nadu rice (white/red, excepting Mottaikarupan and Attakari) an MRP of LKR 92 (USD 0.49) per kg would apply, while for white/red raw rice a ceilings of LKR 89 (USD 0.48) per kg was set, down 4.2 and 4.3 percent from levels stipulated in May 2020, respectively.
