DescriptionIn an effort to reduce the country’s vegetable oil import bill, decided to promote rapeseed cultivation in Punjab province by offering various support to farmers. These measures include offering subsidies for rapeseed hybrid variety cultivation in the Rabi (winter-sown) season; setting up 200 demonstration plots to promote good agricultural practices; encouraging intercropping of rapeseed with other Rabi crops; and distributing seed kits among the farmers under the intercropping scheme.
