DescriptionDecided that it would provide 813.5 million people covered by the National Food Security Act with rice, wheat and coarse grains, free of cost, for an additional five years, under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) program. The initiative would be in effect from 1 January 2024, supplying 5 kg per person rations to beneficiaries that fall under the Priority Households category and 35 kg per household rations for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries.
