DescriptionLowered the Special Commodity Levy on imports of non-basmati non-parboiled semi/wholly milled rice from LKR 65 per kg (USD 211 per tonne) to LKR 1 per kg (USD 3.25 per tonne), provided that said imports possessed an import control license from the Controller General, Department of Imports and Exports Control and a recommendation of the Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security and that the date of their Bill of Lading or Air Way Bill was 1 January 2024 or after. The measure would be valid until 21 January 2024.
