DescriptionSupported research on raw glycerol (a by-product of vegetable oil-based diesel production) with a view to enhance value addition in the biodiesel sector.
NotesIn Canada, a provincial grant has been made available to the University of Saskatchewan to carry out research on glycerol purification and conversion technologies. Currently, raw glycerol – a byproduct of vegetable oil-based diesel production – is said to have limited commercial value, but improved technologies could double the price that companies can charge for the substance, thus adding considerable value to biodiesel production.
