DescriptionAnnounced the end of the state maize purchasing and stockpiling programme starting in the 2016/17 marketing season. Under the new policy, farmers to be offered direct support and other forms of subsidies (details to be announced). This follows a recent government decision to cut the guaranteed purchase price of maize by 10 percent for crops to be harvested starting in September of this year.
