DescriptionReduced the Special Commodity Levy (SCL) on imported husked rice from LKR 5 per kilo (USD 32 per tonne) to LKR 0.25 per kilo (USD 2 per tonne). Imports of semi/wholly milled raw, Nadu and Samba (red or white) rice will also attract an SCL of LKR 0.25 per kilo (USD 2 per tonne), instead of a 30 percent or LKR 50 per kilo (USD 322 per tonne) customs duty. The revised rates will be effective from 27 July 2017 to 31 December 2017.
